With 750 Division I student-athletes—12 percent of the undergraduate student body—participating in 29 varsity sports, Georgetown has one of the largest and most comprehensive athletics programs in the country. Today, our tradition in athletics remains a vital part of the university, creating a path for student-athletes to develop their full potential both in the classroom and on the field of competition.

To sustain this nationally competitive, top-tier athletics program, that also encourages leadership and personal development for the largest number of students, the university must make continued investments in our student-athletes. Georgetown’s Athletics Department has identified strategic fundraising priorities that will permit our students to compete at the highest level of intercollegiate athletics while sustaining a top-tier academic experience

Our two highest and most ambitious priorities are:

    • To Fully Fund and Build the Thompson Center
Construction of this state-of-the-art facility began in November 2014, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held on Friday, September 12. The facility will provide the physical plant to support the training needs for every one of our student-athletes, keeping us competitive for generations to come.

  • To Endow a Minimum of 20 New Athletics Scholarships
A concerted focus on securing athletic scholarship funding through endowment will allow Georgetown to continue to recruit the very best student-athletes, and be better positioned to direct other annual support to the department’s priorities.

These investments in infrastructure and talent are essential factors in ensuring that Georgetown remains a coveted institution for the most promising college-bound athletes.

We invite your support and partnership in investing in Georgetown Athletics.
